HOW DOES COVONIA WORK?

Covonia products are formulated to relieve the symptoms of cough, cold, sore throat and congestion. Covonia’s range of medicated products, including cough syrups, sore throat sprays and lozenges, each have different active ingredients to target different types of cough. Covonia also has a range of herbal medicinal products with ingredients exclusively based upon long-standing use as a traditional remedy. HOW LONG DOES COVONIA TAKE TO WORK?

Covonia’s medicated cough syrups, sore throat sprays and lozenges each have different active ingredients, so may take different lengths of time to provide relief. You should consider seeing your GP if any of the following apply:

  • There are signs of infection – green, yellow or 'rusty' phlegm
  • Blood is present in the mucus
  • Coughing is associated with chest pain
  • You have whooping cough or croup
  • You have recurrent night-time coughing
  • The cough has lasted for more than three weeks
  • There is any shortness of breath or severe pain when inhaling
  • You have any recent, unexplained weight loss which accompanies a cough

WHAT IS THE DOSAGE FOR COVONIA?

The recommended dosage will depend on the specific product you are using, so always read the label carefully beforehand. Alternatively, visit our products page for more information.

DOES COVONIA CONTAIN PARACETAMOL?

Covonia’s range of cough products does not contain paracetamol. However, Covonia All-in-One does contain paracetamol. Please always read the label or visit our products page to check a product’s active ingredients.

CAN YOU TAKE COVONIA AND PARACETAMOL?

Paracetamol may be taken alongside many of Covonia’s range of cough products provided the Covonia product does not already contain paracetamol. Do not take paracetamol with Covonia All-in-One, as this product does contain paracetamol. Please always read the label to check a product’s active ingredients or visit our products page for more information.

DOES COVONIA CONTAIN IBUPROFEN?

Some Covonia cough products do contain alcohol. Please check the dietary properties of a specific Covonia product carefully by visiting the Dietary Properties Table.

CAN YOU DRINK ALCOHOL WITH COVONIA?

It is not recommended to drink alcohol when taking any of the following products, as their active ingredients may react negatively with alcohol: Covonia Dry Cough Sugar Free, Covonia Night Time Formula, Covonia All-in-One.

Some Covonia products also contain alcohol, therefore overdose of these products or ingestion of additional alcohol is not recommended and may result in alcohol intoxication. To check the dietary properties of a specific Covonia product, please read the Dietary Properties Table.

IS COVONIA VEGETARIAN?

Yes. All Covonia cough products are suitable for vegetarians. To check the dietary properties of a specific Covonia product, visit the Dietary Properties Table.

IS COVONIA VEGAN?

Only some Covonia products are suitable for vegans, so please see the Dietary Properties Table to find out the exact dietary properties of a specific product.

IS COVONIA GLUTEN-FREE?

Yes. Covonia cough products are gluten-free and suitable to be taken by coeliacs. To check the dietary properties of a specific Covonia product, visit the Dietary Properties Table.

CAN YOU USE COVONIA WHILE PREGNANT?

We recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist before using Covonia when pregnant as it may not be advisable, or its use should be carefully monitored.

CAN YOU TAKE COVONIA WHILE BREASTFEEDING?

Please always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using any Covonia product while breastfeeding to ensure that it is safe for you and your baby.

WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT FOR COVONIA?

Covonia has a range of different products, each with varying age limits. 

All other Covonia products are suitable for adults and children over 12 years old. However, please always read the label to check a Covonia product’s suitability, or check our products page for more information.

CAN YOU TAKE COVONIA WITH ANTIBIOTICS?

Always ask your pharmacist or GP before taking any Covonia products alongside antibiotics.

CAN YOU TAKE COVONIA IF YOU HAVE ASTHMA?

Some Covonia products must not be taken when a cough is associated with respiratory failure or asthma, including Covonia Dry Cough Sugar Free, Covonia Night Time Formula, Covonia Bronchial Balsam Syrup

Patients who have a history of asthma or who are at risk of developing an acute asthma attack should always consult a doctor or pharmacist before using Covonia.

CAN YOU TAKE COVONIA WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE?

Some Covonia products could interact with medications associated with reducing blood pressure, including Covonia Dry Cough Sugar Free. If you have a history of heart problems, please always consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Covonia.

CAN YOU TAKE COVONIA WITH LOW BLOOD PRESSURE?

Be aware that some Covonia products may interact with medications associated with heart problems, or should not be taken by those with heart problems, including Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture Mentholated, Covonia Dry Cough Sugar Free, Covonia Mucus Cough Oral Solution and Covonia Sore Throat Oromucosal Spray. Patients who have a history of heart problems should always consult a doctor or pharmacist before using Covonia.

CAN YOU TAKE COVONIA IF YOU HAVE HEART PROBLEMS?

People with a history of heart problems should always consult a doctor or pharmacist before using Covonia products. Some Covonia products could interact with some types of heart medication, or should not be taken by those with heart problems, including Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture Mentholated, Covonia Mucus Cough Oral Solution and Covonia Sore Throat Oromucosal Spray.

CAN A DIABETIC TAKE COVONIA?

Covonia has a range of sugar-free products, including Covonia Dry & Tickly Cough Sugar Free Oral Solution, Covonia Chesty Cough Sugar Free, Covonia Dry Cough Sugar Free, Covonia All-in-One and Covonia Sore Throat Oromucosal Spray

Not all Covonia products are suitable for diabetics as some contain sugar. To check the dietary properties of a specific Covonia product, please read the Dietary Properties Table.

DOES COVONIA MAKE YOU DROWSY?

Some Covonia products may make you drowsy, such as Covonia Night Time Formula. Covonia has a range of non-drowsy products, including Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture, Covonia Mucus Cough Oral Solution, Covonia Dry & Tickly Cough Linctus, Covonia Dry and Tickly Cough Sugar Free Oral Solution. WILL COVONIA HELP RELIEVE COVID-19 SYMPTOMS?
